Abstract
Biharmonic functions can be represented in terms of harmonic or biharmonic potentials. These potentials can be generated by hypothetical continuous source densities distributed over suitable surfaces. Accordingly the boundary value problems of two-dimensional elastostatics can be formulated as integral equations to determine these sources. This thesis extends the analysis to cover multiply-connected and infinite exterior domains. A new theory of two-dimensional Volterra dislocations and two-dimensional point-forces have been formulated.
