Abstract

What role does thought play in maintaining the rule of finance? This essay takes its cue from the philosophical and literary discourse on nihilism. There are lies and there is the lie. The lie keeps us coming back for more, generating yet more lies. It never pays to unmask the lie. Lies are more lucrative. Perhaps this is why public policymakers persist in imagining and administering the world in financial terms.
