Pace, I. (2005). Lachenmann’s Serynade—Issues for Performer and Listener. Contemporary Music Review, 24(1), pp. 101-112. doi: 10.1080/0749446042000293646
Abstract
In this article, I explore Lachenmann's largest piano work, his Serynade, and investigate its intricate notation. I discuss its relationship to the music of the past and also place it within a more contemporary context. In addition, I offer my thoughts as a performer about its impact on both listeners and performers.
