Abstract

After reading this How-to Guide, students should be able to
• recognize the value of mapping the literature field to shape research design;
• recognize different types of literature reviews and evaluate which
is the most appropriate for their research;
• understand the basic steps of conducting a scoping literature review; and
• identify ways in which literature can influence methodologic choices, understand how ethical and professional standards are met,
and identify gaps in the existing literature field.
